I started hunting and trapping when I was 11 years old and made my first pair of “beavermans” at the age of 16, hand-sewn with dental floss. After selling a couple pairs to my teachers, I had plans to start a business.

The next morning, I woke up and set the intention that I wanted to start a business selling my handmade fur items.

I sold many of the pelts I hunted and trapped to the largest furrier in Buffalo. I asked the master craftsman if he would teach me, and he said he would—but only if I took him out beaver trapping with me.
